    Removing the Magnetic buckle is a huge downgrade IMO. I had my old sirocco for 4-5 years and it was never a problem and always worked well. I had to clean it a few times but that was it. I am "upgrading" to the new sirocco so will actually look to swap the buckles around so I can have a new Sirocco with the old magnetic buckle. You didn't mention the new Headtorch attachment design which was the primary design flaw with the old version IMO, it was always a PITA to get a head torch attached correctly.

    • @WeighMyRack
      @WeighMyRack 14 дней назад

      The magnetic buckle was certainly a point of contention for lots of people. A love-it or hate-it kind of thing, but the hate-it crowd was very vocal.

    • @user-dg9ti5gq4e
      @user-dg9ti5gq4e 11 дней назад

      So my New Sirocco has Arrived. The new front headtorch clips make it much easier to put a Head Torch on, I can even do it while wearing the Helmet which is nice. The strap can be swapped out fairly easily and is mostly the same as the previous version except the Magnetic Buckle. I will be swapping my straps around. The old version came with a set of spare Foam Pads, the new one did not, although they are cheap its a little disappointing given the price point. The material is also clearly a little different as well, the Foam on the new version is much more densely packed and is less flexible, not sure how this will impact durability etc.

    I don't know, it seems inferior to quad. Only one strand, and if one bolt fails, it will extend a lot; with quad you can make the inner area narrower.

    • @WeighMyRack
      @WeighMyRack 14 дней назад

      I think a lot of people agree with you. Every piece of gear has advantages and disadvantages, this sewn anchor prioritizes size, weight, and speed over some of the other things you get with a traditional quad, as you mentioned.

      I know it's not always possible, but with any climbing shoes it's pretty critical to try them on, not just for volume and size but the general last shape. I'm a big fan of Mad Rock but the Drones do not fit my foot shape at all.

  • @sphinxink1919
    @sphinxink1919 24 дня назад

    Definitely don’t like this feature particularly lowering when there’s high friction like a traversing route and your climber is lightweight, you may need that lever to be all the way open just to lower but with this it might be near impossible to lower under those circumstances, which is not ideal for the less experienced belayer that these are marketed towards. I’m glad I don’t have one and I wouldn’t really recommend this product over the regular grigri. The benefits this ABD provides are all things you can and should learn and train on the regular grigri.

I tend to fall often, but nontheless very disappointed with its quality to be honest. Mammut uses a plastic reinforcement at this tie-in point. Now I know why! And why a 5th loop?
